FAQs

When should I arrive?

  • We recommend arriving prior to the pre wedding celebration on September 3rd.

  • For those traveling internationally, we recommend booking flights to Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman. Royal Jordanian is the national airline and tends to have the widest range of direct and connecting flights.

How should I move around in Jordan?

  • Upon arrival, yellow cabs at the airport are your best option. They tend to accept credit cards.

  • Once in the city center, Uber and Careem are widely available.

  • From Amman to Petra: Group transportation between Amman and Petra will be provided to our guests (total driving time of around 3hrs).

  • Note: If you’d like to arrange private transportation for increased flexibility and comfort, please refer to “Touring Jordan” section.

Where should I stay?

  • We have curated a list of recommended hotels with preferred rates for both Amman and Petra. Early booking is encouraged.

  • Having said that, there are many other options in both cities that you could choose from.

Do I need a visa?

  • Most nationalities are required to obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport. Please verify the requirements based on your passport.

  • If you intend to make a longer trip out of this, you can purchase a JordanPass together with your visa at the airport, which gives you access to virtually all main attractions and sightseeing of Jordan (https://jordanpass.jo).

  • We have curated recommended tours with a local expert agency that can provide you with assistance and tailor an itinerary for you. Reach out to Atlas Tours and fill out the Jordan Wedding Guest Tours form.

Is Jordan safe?

  • Jordan is widely known for its warmth and hospitality toward International visitors and is generally regarded as very safe.

Are there any restrictions around dress code outside of wedding events?

  • While Jordan has a pretty open culture and there are no restrictions in dress code in private places (bars, restaurants, hotels, and our wedding events), we kindly recommend modest outfits in public settings (such as local markets, street strolling, religious sites etc).

Do I need cash? What is the local currency?

  • Credit cards and contactless payments are widely accepted in Jordan. Having said that, carrying some cash is recommended in case you find yourself in a street market or want to tip. You can easily find ATMs around the city so can easily pull cash as needed though certain withdrawal may apply depending on your bank

  • The local currency is Jordanian Dinar (JOD). Conversion rates range around ~0.71 JOD per 1 USD (or ~7.30 BRL per 1 JOD)

What will the weather be like?

  • September is typically warm and sunny, with cooler evenings in Petra. Expect warm summer days and breezy desert nights with temperatures reaching up to ~30 Celsius (~85 Fahrenheit) during the day and ~16 Celsius (~60 Fahrenheit) at night.
